Installing and managing plugins

Oct 15, 2026

Almost everything beyond the core is a plugin. Open Plugins in the sidebar.

Manage Plugins

Plugins > Manage Plugins lists every plugin folder on the server in a table with:

  • its type (addon, payment gateway, domain registrar, server, VPS platform, CAPTCHA, fraud check, AI provider, migration),
  • its source: Built-in, Marketplace (installed from the store) or Added manually,
  • its state, which you can filter: active, inactive, update available,
  • actions: Activate, Deactivate, Settings (a link to where it is configured), Delete.

A plugin that failed to load (a bad file, a version that is too new) is listed separately with the reason, and the rest of WHBMP keeps running.

Add a plugin

  1. Open Plugins > Add New. The catalog from the license store is refreshed when it is older than 5 minutes.
  2. Choose More Details to read about it on the store, or press Install Now.
  3. The plugin is downloaded, its checksum is verified against the signed manifest, and the old folder (if any) is backed up.
  4. Activate it. Addons also need their own database tables created, which happens on activation. Gateways, registrars and the like appear on their own settings pages.

A valid WHBMP license is needed to install any plugin from the store, including the free ones.

Built-in plugins

Six plugins ship in the main package: cPanel/WHM, DirectAdmin, Plesk, ResellerClub, PayPal and Stripe. All the others are installed from the store.

Update a plugin

Updates show on Manage Plugins and in Settings > System Update. Press update. Your settings are kept. You can also switch on automatic updates there.

Deactivate or delete

  • Deactivate keeps the plugin and its data but switches its features off.
  • Delete removes the folder. A plugin is refused deletion while it is active, while a server or gateway uses it, while another active plugin depends on it, or if it is store-only.
  • When you delete an addon you can tick delete its data to drop its database tables. Back up first.

Dependencies

Some plugins need others. Sell License can use Product Downloads. Activating a plugin whose dependency is off is refused with a clear message.

Adding a plugin manually

There is no zip upload. A plugin is copied into the plugins folder on the server (for plugin developers), then appears as Added manually.
