Password Vault
Oct 25, 2026
The Password Vault plugin gives each signed-in client a private list of named passwords. Support tickets often ask for a root password; with the vault the client saves it once, as Server01, and picks it from a list the next time.
It needs WHBMP 2.37.0 or newer and is free.
Install it
- Open Plugins > Add New, find Password Vault and press Install, then activate it.
- Set up the ticket field it works with: in Settings > Client Custom Fields add a field of type Password Field, set Used on to Support ticket only and tick the departments that ask for it (see Extra details on tickets).
- Under Settings > Security & Roles, give the staff who may read passwords the Reveal passwords permission.
What clients see
- A Password Vault link in the client menu. The page has a form (a name such as
Server01, and the password) and the list of saved passwords. Each one shows dots until the client presses Reveal; Delete removes it. - On the Open New Ticket form, under a Password Field, a list Choose from my vault fills the field, and Save this password to my vault as… keeps the one they typed.
Only the client can see their list. A password reaches your staff only when the client sends it with a ticket.
What staff see
On a client's profile there is a Password Vault tab listing the names and the date saved. A password is shown only to staff with the Reveal passwords permission, one click at a time, and each reveal is written to the activity log. Staff can also Delete an entry, for example when a client asks.
How long entries are kept
Entries stay until the client or staff delete them. Deleting a client permanently deletes their vault; a client that was only archived or can be restored keeps it.
Security
- Each password is encrypted in the database with your installation's application key. Keep the
.envfile private and do not changeAPP_KEYwithout a plan: older entries could no longer be read. - Staff can read what a client shares because support needs it. If you need a vault that even your staff cannot open, this plugin is not that.
- The plugin has Spanish, German, French and Arabic texts.
