Tax

Oct 15, 2026

Open Settings > Tax Configuration.

Switch tax on

Turn on the toggle that enables tax billing. Until it is on, no tax is calculated anywhere.

Exclusive or inclusive

  • Exclusive Tax: the prices you enter do not include tax. Tax is added on top.
  • Inclusive Tax: the prices you enter already include tax. The tax portion is shown inside the price.

Tax rules

Under Rules add one rule per tax: a name (for example "VAT"), a rate, and the country and optionally the state it applies to. When a customer orders, WHBMP picks the rule that matches their billing country and state and calculates the tax on the order form and again on the invoice. The same calculation is used everywhere, so the order total and the invoice always agree.

Show Tax From Beginning shows an estimated tax line, using the highest rate you configured, on the product configuration and cart pages before the customer has entered an address.

Your own details

  • Your Tax ID / VAT Number, printed on invoices.
  • Your Home Country and Home Country Exclusion: always charge tax to customers in your home country.

Customer tax IDs

  • Show the Tax ID field on client profiles.
  • Auto Tax Exempt treats clients who have a Tax ID on file as exempt. This is based on the field being filled in, not on a check against a VAT register.

Invoice numbering

  • Custom Invoice Numbering with an Invoice Numbering Format. The default is PRO-{NUMBER}. Available tags are {YEAR}, {MONTH}, {DAY} and {NUMBER}.
  • Next Invoice Number and Auto Reset Numbering (restart the count each period).
  • Proforma Invoicing / Sequential Paid Invoice Numbering: when an invoice is fully paid, it gets a separate final number with its own Paid Invoice Number Format and Next Paid Invoice Number. When this is off, the first number stays the only number.

Reports

Late fees are taxed. The Finance & Expenses plugin reports the tax charged on paid invoices. See Finance and Expenses.
