What a registrar does
A registrar connection lets WHBMP register, renew and transfer domains for your clients, change nameservers and contacts, lock and unlock domains, fetch EPP codes, manage DNS records and child nameservers, and turn on ID protection, all through the registrar's API.
Available registrars
| Registrar | Where it comes from | Credentials |
|---|---|---|
| Built-in registrar | Included | None. Domains are tracked in WHBMP only. You register them elsewhere. |
| ResellerClub (OrderBox) | Included | Reseller ID and API Key |
| OpenProvider | Plugin | Username and Password |
OpenProvider has been tested live. Try a registration of an inexpensive extension before launch.
Connect one
- Open the registrar's card on Settings > Domain Registrars.
- Enter the credentials. They are stored encrypted. If you change the application key, you must enter them again.
- Tick the test mode box if you are using sandbox credentials.
- Make it Active.
- Press Test Connection.
Allow the registrar IP
Most registrars only accept API calls from IP addresses you have allowed. Add the public IP of your WHBMP server in the registrar's panel.
Live domain search
In Settings > Domain Pricing, set the Lookup Provider. This is the registrar that answers "is this domain available" on the storefront. Only active registrars are listed. With "No live lookups" customers can only order domains they already own.
Failures
If a registrar call fails the client sees "An error occurred. Please contact support." and the real reason lands in Pending Module Actions. See Provisioning.
