Sell plans that include plugins

What you get

With Sell License you can sell license plans such as Plus and Pro, where each plan unlocks a different set of premium plugins. A plan is an ordinary Software License product in Products & Pricing, with its own price and billing cycle. There is no separate plan screen.

Premium plugins can only be downloaded and updated by a license whose plan includes them.
Free plugins (plugins that are not marked premium, such as payment gateways) are open to every valid license, whatever the plan.
You can still sell a single premium plugin on its own with an Addon License product. It is added to the customer's key next to whatever their plan includes.

The check happens on your store, when a site asks to download or update a plugin. A site cannot get around it by editing its own files.

Set it up

Open License > Plugins, edit a plugin you sell and tick Premium. Only premium plugins appear in a plan's list.
Open Products & Pricing and create (or edit) a Software License product, for example WHBMP Plus. Set the price and billing cycle as usual.
In Module Settings > License Settings, under License Style, tick License with plugins, modules or addons.
Tick the premium plugins this plan unlocks. A Pro plan does not include Plus automatically: tick each plugin on each plan.
Give every plan the same Software Identifier if they unlock the same software, so one key covers it whichever plan the customer has.
Save. Repeat for Pro with its own list.

Changing a plan's plugins

You can change the list whenever you like.

Add a plugin to a plan: every key on that plan gets it straight away, including keys sold before.
Remove a plugin from a plan: it stops going to new keys. Keys that already received it keep it. This is deliberate, so taking a plugin off a plan never breaks a customer who already has it.

A key remembers the plugins it has been given the first time it is checked while its service is active.

Upgrading from Plus to Pro

When a customer's service is moved from Plus to Pro (an upgrade request you approve, or an automatic upgrade invoice), their key follows the new product. It keeps the plugins it already has and gains the Pro ones, and its site limit changes if Pro allows more sites. Plugins a key has already been given are never taken away, even if its service is later moved to a cheaper plan.
