General Settings
Oct 15, 2026
Settings > General Settings holds the options that apply to the whole system. It has eleven tabs. Each tab saves on its own with its own Save button, and you stay on the same tab afterwards.
General
Company and site basics.
- Company Name, Contact Email and Website.
- Front-end logo: upload a PNG, JPG, WebP or GIF up to 2 MB, or paste a logo URL. It shows in the client area, storefront and public pages. The admin area always shows the WHBMP logo.
- Pay To Text: the "Pay To" block printed on invoices (your address and tax details).
- System URL: the public address of the installation.
- Limit Activity Log and Keep Provision and Gateway Logs For (days): how long log entries are kept. The nightly clean-up deletes older ones.
- Records to Display per Page: table page size.
- Maintenance mode, with a Maintenance Mode Message and an optional Redirect URL. In maintenance mode the client area and public pages show a notice. The admin area, signed-in staff and payment callbacks keep working.
Locale
- Date Format used everywhere in the system.
- Default Country, which pre-selects the country on forms.
Ordering
- Order Days Grace, Default Order Form Template and Terms of Service URL (shown at checkout).
- Whether orders from returning customers are provisioned automatically, and whether existing domains can be ordered again.
- Optional and locked client profile fields, phone number rules and tax display at checkout.
Domains
Domain ordering rules: allowed lookups, IDN names, grace and redemption fee handling, auto-renew on payment and the default registrant contact. Here you can also stop selling domains, or hide them everywhere with Don't sell domains (possible only while no domain is alive). See Managing domains.
- SMTP Host, Port, Encryption, SMTP Username and SMTP Password (stored encrypted), with a Send Test Email button.
- Email Accent Colour, Global Email Signature, Global Email CSS Styling, Client Email Header Content and Client Email Footer Content.
- System Emails From Name and From Email, and BCC Messages (a copy of every email sent).
See Email and SMTP.
Support
- Support Module, Support Ticket Mask Format (how ticket numbers look), Ticket Reply List Order and Ticket Reply Email Limit.
- Knowledgebase Link (shows suggested articles when clients open a ticket).
- Allowed File Attachment Types.
- Ticket ratings.
Invoices
- PDF Paper Size (A4, Letter or Legal) and Enable PDF Invoices, which attaches the PDF to new-invoice and payment emails.
- Invoice # Incrementation (the step between invoice numbers).
- Late Fee Amount and Late Fee Minimum, plus options such as grouping lines and letting clients choose a gateway.
- How cancellation requests are handled.
Invoice numbering formats live in Tax Configuration (see Tax).
Credit
Client credit and the Add Funds page: Minimum Deposit, Maximum Deposit and Maximum Balance.
Affiliates
Affiliate Earning Percentage, Affiliate Commission Delay, Affiliate Bonus Deposit, Affiliate Payout Amount, Payout Request Department and Affiliate Link. See Affiliates.
Security
- Minimum User Password Strength, applied everywhere a password is set.
- Failed Login Ban Time (minutes) after too many failed sign-ins.
- Whitelisted IPs that are never banned.
- Email OTP Login: lets clients and staff sign in with a six-digit email code instead of a password (each person turns it on for themselves).
- Email verification for new clients and ending a session when the IP address changes.
- CAPTCHA: reCAPTCHA, hCaptcha or Turnstile (install the matching plugin) on checkout, ticket and client sign-in pages. The admin sign-in never uses a CAPTCHA, so a wrong key cannot lock you out.
See Security.
Other
Opt-in wording for marketing emails and other smaller options. Monthly Affiliate Reports and Monthly Statements are switched on here: on the first day of each month the first emails every affiliate with activity a summary, the second emails each client a PDF statement of last month (see Invoices).
Good to know
- Every option on every tab is connected to real behaviour. If something is not built, it is not shown.
- Staff need the General Settings permission to see this page. See Staff users and roles.
